Question: Discuss about the Social Work for Human Services. Answer: Introduction The topic is concerned with the management of social work services provided to the human beings for the betterment of the health and well-being. The topic will illustrate about the various aspects of social work for human services considering the social work itself, social welfare, socio-legal and social policies that can impact on the human services. The social work practices for exploring the cases where children experience domestic violence or some kind of disability will be explained here along with the public health services provided. Ideas/Arguments According to Johansen, Svendsen, and Sundet (2017), there are many cases where the children experience some kind of domestic violence, which can lead to some kind of physical harm and even destroy their future ambitions. Domestic violence relates to some kind of problem faced by smaller children which have resulted in serious health related disabilities and illnesses and even physical harms are caused. Based on the analysis, more than 15.5 million children have been the victims of domestic violence. The roles and responsibilities of the social workers are to position these kinds of children as vulnerable to some kinds of harms, i.e., physically or mentally and require proper help and support (Johansen et al., 2017, p.748). Kattari and Turner (2017), stated that there are several inclusive approaches to social work for protecting individuals from physical harm, which can lead to physical disability and make them dependent on others. Social services should be provided not only for the benefits of the people with disabilities but will also allow them to access culturally responsive information and data and know about sexuality from the social workers. This would also promote positive sexual experiences that they can achieve after overcoming from their physical disability or illness. According to U.S. Census Bureau, 18.7 % people suffer from disability while the disabilities are severe for more than 12.7 % people. These individuals needed support to manage daily activities by using wheelchair, cane, crutches, carry or lift objects, etc (Kattari Turner, 2017, p.48). The social policies must be set properly to promote sexual education and make people know about the risks resulting from sexual abuse, transmi tted infections, etc. By gaining knowledge and information about these aspects, the individuals with disabilities could obtain a positive sexual expression and enjoy life like a normal people. Another article from which necessary data and information have been obtained is the ethical use of electronic media in social work practice. According to Sana LOUE (2016), educational programs are time consuming and required more effort and money. The electronic media usage could not only overcome the geographical barriers but would spread messages and information among people at a faster rate. Thus, the utilization of electronic media and internet could connect with more people and provide them with necessary information about the kind of health issue that they might be facing (Loue, 2016). Theories, methodologies and philosophies underpin the information The social constructivism theory is apt for the situation, as stated by Johansen et al. (2017), because it has applied knowledge and a proper understanding is achieved to interpret the of information obtained. By obtaining information about the situation where an individual had faced domestic violence, it would be easy to understand the implications of harm caused and deliver the right kind of care services to make them recover from the mental or physical illness. The accused should also be handed over to police and the entire scene should be reported by the social workers through the analysis and interpretation of information done with the use of this theory (Monette, Sullivan DeJong, 2013). The social learning theory was applied for making observations and imitates various things to promote new behaviors and understand the new concepts. By applying the new concepts, the learning process has been improved and new behaviors arise where understanding the entire situations where the individuals have experienced domestic violence or issues related to sexual health. The psychological development theory encouraged the social workers to remain encouraged to benefit the community and the people with disabilities, furthermore understand their own purposes, goals. The rational choice theory was considered as effective because of its ability to measure the risks and benefits that might be obtained due to any actions undertaken (Austin, 2012). The internet was used to promote good health approaches though the risks and benefits were evaluated at the beginning (Lee Hudson, 2017). Influence on SW practices Based on the responses provided by Johansen, Svendsen, and Sundet (2017), it is important to develop social practices that can reduce the chances of risks that may make things worse and fulfill the needs of children by discussing about the violent experiences. This would spread awareness among people and could even reduce the rate of domestic violence largely. The children who experienced domestic violence must be considered as social agents and then the social work practices should be set in such a manner for protecting the rights of children. The social work practices would include promoting messages to people about making immediate report to the police whenever they identify any domestic violence situations (Madaus, Scriven Stufflebeam, 2012). The social workers could immediately be present at the scene and make sure that the abuse or harm is stopped immediately. The integration of sexuality for the people with disability has helped in maintaining proper social work practices, policies and researches to improve the level of competence among the social workers. According to Kattari and Turner (2017), sexual education promoted healthy life style habits for the people with disabilities and even enhanced the scopes of gaining knowledge, attitudes and beliefs regarding sexuality and balancing it with disability. The educational opportunities have encouraged cross-disciplinary activities and improved the competence and professional skills among the social workers to collaborate with the other community organizations and foster development of positive relationships to spread awareness among people (Mackelprang Salsgiver, 2016). Multidisciplinary work practices are promoted for addressing the issues of clients and managing conversations with them freely about the sexual health matters. The social workers are dedicated to the improvement of lives of human beings and maintain ecological and clinical approaches to make sure that the society is benefited and the individuals with disabilities or illnesses are provided with proper care support. The public health has facilitated the efficiency of the social work practices and focused on the discussion of issues related to child health, maternal health, overcome poverty and even promote messages through proper education for making people aware of the unhealthy practices that can deteriorate their health condition. The use of electronic media could improve the effectiveness of professional consultation, supervision and support by engaging in extensive clinical practices (Oliver, Sapey Thomas, 2012). The improvement of clinical supervision would be important for training the mental health care staffs and allow them to handle the clients properly, furthermore establish good relationships with them and ensure faster recovery. Critical reflection of the information presented As a social worker, I think all these social policies, theories and frameworks are beneficial for delivering the best quality social services to people with special needs and make them recover from their disability or illness with ease. After studying the three articles, I gathered enough knowledge to establish myself as a successful social worker in a reputed health and social care organization in the future. Social policies and work practices have not only benefited the individuals who experience some kind of disability due to domestic violence, but also have promoted sexual education for making the people with disabilities act as normal human beings too. I understood how internet has revolutionized the social work practices by reaching more people and connecting with them (Hepworth et al., 2016). Messages and information regarding healthy habits could be promoted by using electronic media and ensure that people can become aware of the causes of domestic violence and prevent it qui ckly. Conclusion The report was prepared to discuss the main concepts revolving around the social work practices provided to the human beings for their social well-being. Domestic violence was one of the major causes of physical harm or mental disability and to handle those, the social care professionals needed proper competency and professional skills. The social learning theory was applied to make observations, imitate situations for facilitating the new concepts evolving, and promote healthy practices for the people with disabilities. As a social care worker, all these learning would be useful for me to progress in my professional career with ease and further establish myself within a reputed health and social care organization in the future.
